Emily Irene VanCamp, who originally wanted to be a professional dancer, grew fascinated by acting after she visited her sister Katie at The Ladies Room set. Her acting career began when she started taking classes. She also got appearances on television shows in her native Canada. She has appeared in many shows, including Are You Scared of the Dark? Radio Active, Dice. VanCamp's professional career began to take off when being cast as Sam Dolan, a regular in the series WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. The show was canceled after 9 episodes, despite positive reviews and low ratings. The 12th of May, 1986 actress immediately secured a new role in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the main characters. Her part in the movie brought her four Teen Choice Awards nominations and a Young Artist Award.
